Otis Boykin

Otis Boykin was an electrical engineer and inventor who developed 26 patented devices, including a wire-precision resistor used in guided missiles, IBM computers, and the control unit of the first successful implantable pacemaker. Denied a scholarship to graduate school because of his race, he pursued research through private industry and consulting, ultimately living to see his inventions embedded in everyday electronics around the world.

“I always felt that my inventions were as much for humanity as for myself.”
